Featured topic: Blindness and Visual Impairment

Cancer There are over 58,000 children in the United States that are blind or visually impaired and for more than 100 years, Helen Keller Services for the Blind has helped restore confidence and independence for the blind and visually impaired of all ages.  Teachers and therapists help children who are visually impaired or blind understand their world with instruction and socializing.  As for adults, as people live longer, many will face the challenge of vision loss.  That’s why Helen Keller Services for the Blind has vision rehabilitation centers throughout the New York  metropolitan area.  Through special counseling and training, Helen Keller Services for the Blind foster’s independence.  Depending upon the program, HKSB’s services are either free to the public or to those who qualify for service.

For the rest of this summer we would like to highlight the "Childrens Learning Center" sponsored by HKSB. The Childrens Learning Center is the only center in Brooklyn that specializes in serving children who are visually impaired or blind, and/or have multiple disabilities.

What is Topics Coffee?

Topics Coffee is a top quality product that provides a way for consumers to make a difference in the world. Each month we spotlight one topic and one organization. On our bags you will find information about the topic, a fact and the organization we are sponsoring.

At the end of the month we donate 10% of everyones purchase to the organization of choice. Though gourmet coffee is our stamp, we also offer visitors the opportunity to purchase other products that may be useful for cause awareness and social conscious efforts.
